CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Feb. 19, 2026 – As cultural institutions face rising costs and the ever-growing needs of their collection, finding archival-safe creative storage solutions is essential to the long-term preservation of Wyoming’s history.
This month's Quick Tips session, presented by the Roving Archivist Program, will focus on a key resource for cultural institutions. Jesse Keel will offer a brief overview of the services and resources provided by the Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC) that cultural heritage institutions can utilize for disaster preparedness and response.
Join us Thursday, March 5 at 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. MT via Google Meet at meet.google.com/bgr-reit-tkr or dial (US) +1 319-449-2718, PIN: 581 688 137#.
Keel is an Associate Preservation Specialist with the NEDCC. She is a certified digital archives specialist and holds a Master of Arts in English from the University of Vermont, as well as a Master of Library and Information Studies with a concentration in Archives Management from Simmons University. Keel has worked in several cultural institutions across the northeast. In her current position, Keel supports organizations by providing preservation consultations, assessments, training programs, and disaster advice across the nation.
“It is important for cultural institutions to be aware of the variety of organizations that can assist them in times of crisis,” Morgan Stence commented. “When dealing with collection material, a small crisis can always spiral into full blown disaster. It’s better to know what resources are available before a crisis occurs.”
This talk will be more of a conversation between RAP, NEDCC, and participants, where they will:
- Discover essential, free resources and learn about the vital disaster services offered by NEDCC,
- Engage with experts in an interactive Q&A on disaster planning, and
- Connect with fellow attendees to discuss real-world problems and discover practical solutions.
